Description
What is Trioplast® Dental Paste?
This oral medication is used for the temporary relief of symptoms from mouth sores due to injury. This drug comes in a dental paste that allows it to stick to the inside of the mouth/cheeks/gums. It works by reducing the swelling, itching, and pain that can occur with mouth sores. This medication is known as a medium-strength corticosteroid. Kenalog in Orabase is only for use in your mouth.
Corticosteroids, including triamcinolone acetonide, are used to relieve itching, burning, inflammation, and allergies. Trioplast® is used for relieving tenderness, pain, inflammation, and ulceration of the inside of the mouth or the gums. This can include sores caused by injury or by dentures (false teeth) rubbing on the gums. Trioplast® is a sticky paste that keeps the medicine on the sore area and protects it while the medicine relieves the soreness, reduces the swelling, and accelerates the healing process. Trioplast® is not addictive or habit-forming. It may be prescribed by your doctor or bought at an online pharmacy when recommended by your dentist or pharmacist.
What is a mouth ulcer? Mouth ulcers are small painful sores on the inner lips, gums, tongue, roof of the mouth, or throat that may interfere with eating, drinking, and even talking. Trioplast Dental Paste blocks the channels that are responsible for pain sensation and inflammation. Therefore it provides relief from pain, discomfort, and symptoms of inflammation such as redness or swelling due to mouth ulcers. This makes it easier for you to go about your daily activities. Continue using it as advised by the doctor to get maximum benefit.
Contraindications
This preparation is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any of its components. Because it contains a corticosteroid, the preparation is contraindicated in the presence of fungal, viral, or bacterial infections of the mouth or throat.
How to use Trioplast® Dental Paste
Squeeze out about a 1/4th of an inch long ribbon of Trioplast® on the tip of a clean and dry finger. Apply with little pressure to the lesion until a thin film develops. Hold in position until it becomes sticky. The preparation should be applied at bedtime to permit steroid contact with the lesion throughout the night. Depending on the severity of symptoms, it may be necessary to apply the preparation two to four times a day, preferably after meals. Do not eat or drink for half an hour after applying Trioplast®.
