Recombinant human epidermal growth factor (REGEN-D 150), which was cloned and overexpressed in E. coli, has shown enhanced healing of chronic diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) by significantly reducing the duration of healing in addition to providing excellent quality of wound healing and re-epithelization. The post-marketing surveillance (PMS) study of REGEN-D 150 in 135 patients of DFU was compared with Phase III clinical trial data of REGEN-D 150. Statistical analysis of study data determined that the empirical survival probability distribution, in terms of non-healing of ulcers, was lowest in the case of the PMS study, better than that for Phase III; more DFU patients were healed in the PMS study. The percentage of patients cured in any given week (e.g., in week 10) is above 90% in the PMS study, as compared to 69% in Phase III clinical trial; this percentage was around 18% for the control group with placebo in the Phase III trial. The average wound healing time was significantly lower in the PMS study, 4.8 weeks, while it was 9 weeks in Phase III clinical trials while the average wound healing with REGEN-D 150 was found to be 86% in this study. REGEN-D 150 has been found to result in healthy granulation and stimulate epithelization, thus leading to final wound closure. The PMS study has established the efficacy of REGEN-D 150 in faster healing of diabetic foot ulcers.
The healing effect of recombinant human epidermal growth factor (EGF) on chronic diabetic foot ulcers is shown in this article. A total of 89 patients (65 male and 24 female) aged from 36 to 82 years (average of 54) enrolled for the prospective, open-label trial, crossover study. Predetermined criteria were used for the diagnosis and classification of ulcers. The average duration of the ulcer was 6 months (ranging from 3 to 27 months) prior to the study. Upon study, the ulcers were debrided and treated with hydrocolloid or composite dressing depending on the condition of the wound. If the treatment effect was minimal using advanced dressing for 3 weeks, patients were crossed over to twice-a-day treatment with 0.005% EGF and advanced dressing. Among the patients, 21 patients showed improvement using hydrocolloid or composite dressing alone and 68 patients were crossed over to treatment with EGF and advanced dressing. In the EGF-treated patients, complete healing was noted in 52 patients within an average of 46 days (ranging from 2 to 14 weeks). Recurrence was not noted during the 6-month observation. But 5 patients showed new lesions different from the prior site. Sixteen patients required further interventions. This paper suggests that topical treatment with EGF combined with advanced dressing may have positive effects in promoting the healing of chronic diabetic foot wounds.
Regen D is a recombinant human epidermal growth factor gel that promotes skin repair in conditions like diabetic ulcers and skin wounds or burns. It acts on connective tissue cells to rapidly repair and regenerate severely damaged skin areas. Additionally, growth factors reverse the aging effect on skin through their potent skin renovation abilities.
Regen D is a topical gel indicated for patients that require quick skin repair and strengthening. It has been used for skin grafts, open wounds, ulcers, and conditions that profoundly alter skin integrity. Moreover, growth factors have cosmetic potential. They strengthen and renew skin structure by Boosting collagen production, enhancing skin blood supply, and slowing cellular death.
Regen D contains three skin growth hormones: ranitidine, dicyclomine, and simethicone. It leads to thicker and firmer skin with subsequent lesser wrinkles and fine lines appearance.
The potent rejuvenating and repairing properties of Regen D skin growth factors translate to youthful and elastic skin. Hence, regen D reduces wrinkles and fine line appearances. Moreover, it evens out the skin tone, clearing dark spots and discolorations.
In addition to its age-fighting effect, Regen D helps in healing profound wounds and preventing scar formation. It induces connective tissue cells to produce collagen and rapidly repair damaged areas.
Regen D has the potential for a potent age-fighting skin cosmetic. It is a rapid fix for damaged skin and the answer for glowing, toned, firm, youthful skin.
Recombinant platelet-derived growth factor therapy
Regen-D® Gel, a natural formulation for skin is actually a recombinant platelet-derived growth factor therapy for diabetic and neuropathic ulcers. This endogenous growth factor stimulates healing by attracting repair cells to the wound. The platelet growth factor promotes collagen production and increases the rate of skin cell regeneration. PDGF stimulates chemotaxis, proliferation, and new gene expression in monocytes-macrophages and fibroblasts in vitro, cell types considered essential for tissue repair.
Regen-D® Gel 60mg and 120 mg formulation is an ideal one for those requiring rapid growth and strengthening of the skin for fast wound healing. Regen-D® Gel 150 mg helps in faster healing of ulcers of the neck, ankle, and foot in diabetic patients.
A formula with three growth factors: Regen-D® Gel gel by Tropic Pharma contains three skin growth hormones that are ranitidine, dicyclomine, and simethicone. All these three hormones thicken and firm the skin, ultimately reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and scars. This natural formulation for the skin also reduces hyperpigmentation and evens the skin tone. These benefits make Regen-D® Gel an ideal cosmetic formulation for fighting premature skin aging for smooth and fresh skin.

How do human epidermal recombinant growth factors regenerate skin repair and renewal?
Growth factors are not hormones. They are substances naturally produced by platelets, skin cells, or connective tissue to support the repair of damaged skin. As with most biological processes in an aging body, the growth factor production declines with age. Subsequently, the skin’s ability to repair itself also decreases. Hence, dermatologists concluded the connection between high levels of growth factors and youthful skin.
Topically applied growth factors have a large size. But trials showed that their size does not affect their absorption and penetration to the skin. Growth factors combined with antioxidants like vitamin C or Vitamin E boost their efficiency and show sooner results, reducing wrinkles and fine lines typically in 6 to 8 weeks.
The growth factors are natural agents produced by the skin to repair damage caused by environmental factors like UV rays or trauma. As the largest organ in the body with a vast surface exposed to the external world, The skin is prone to regular damage. Hence, the skin is in a constant state of renewal and regeneration to resist daily tear and wear.
Growth factors used in cosmetics are the product of bioengineered cells in the laboratory. Biotechnology makes it possible to grow skin or bone cells that produce growth factors to isolate later for cosmetic use.
In conclusion, no growth factors induce cellular pathways that lead to enhanced collagen and elastic fibers production. Regen D gel combines multiple growth factors for maximum skin firmness and softness.
