What is Metrohex® Oral Gel?
Metrohex® Oral Gel is a combination of two medicines used in the treatment of mouth infection. It has antimicrobial action on the infection-causing microorganisms. It inhibits the growth of bacteria and helps in the rapid healing of the infection. Using any antibiotic when it is not needed can cause it to not work for future infections. Metronidazole may also be used with other medications to treat certain stomach/intestinal ulcers caused by bacteria (H. pylori).
Metrohex® Gel is strictly advised for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Apply it only on the affected areas of the mouth. It should not be used in excess amount and also avoid swallowing it. You must wash immediately if there is accidental exposure to it on the eyes.
Metronidazole has been shown to be carcinogenic in mice and rats. Unnecessary use of the drug should therefore be avoided. Metrohex may lead to stainings of your teeth, thus avoid using it for long-term use. If you experience any allergic reactions following the use of the medicine, inform your doctor without delay.
