What is Fluocinolone Acetonide cream

Flucort cream with Fluocinolone Acetonide 0.1% is used for complete treatment a number of skin conditions such as skin inflammation, allergic reactions, eczema, seborrhea, and psoriasis. Flucort cream may also be used for other purposes not listed, please read an instruction leaflet and consult with your dermatologist prior to use this cream.

Fluocinolone Acetonide cream is used to treat a variety of inflammatory skin conditions to relieve itching, redness and discomfort, and other symptoms like scaling and crusting. Flucort cream is also used to treat allergic skin disorders including eczema, dermatitis, intertrigo (a rash in the folds of the skin), prurigo (itchy lumps on the skin), lichen planus (itchy swollen rash on the skin), psoriasis (a chronic autoimmune skin condition causing red, itchy, scaly patches of skin on the body) and discoid lupus erythematosus (a chronic skin condition causing sores and scarring usually on the face, ears, and scalp).

Fluocinolone Acetonide cream contains both an anti-inflammatory and an antibiotic and is therefore particularly helpful for skin disorders that have become infected or are likely to become infected and it can be used on areas of affected skin that are moist or weeping.


How to use Fluocinolone Acetonide cream

Use this anti-inflammatory cream on the skin only. However, do not use it on the face, groin, or underarms unless directed to do so by your dermatologist. Wash and dry your hands before using it. Clean and dry the affected area. Apply a thin film of cream to the affected area and gently rub in, usually 3-4 times daily or as directed by your dermatologist. Do not bandage, cover, or wrap the area unless directed to do so by your dermatologist. If used in the diaper area on an infant, do not use tight-fitting diapers or plastic pants. After applying the cream, wash your hands unless you are using this cream to treat the hands. When applying this cream near the eyes, avoid getting it in the eyes because this may worsen or cause glaucoma. Also, avoid getting this cream in the nose or mouth.


Side effects of Fluocinolone Acetonide cream

Side effects that may occur while taking this cream include drying or cracking of the skin, acne, itching, burning, and change in skin color. If you have any allergies to fluocinolone or to other anti-inflammatory tell your dermatologist. Before using this cream, tell your dermatologist your medical history, especially of: poor blood circulation, diabetes, immune system problems. Do not use it if there is an infection or sore in the area to be treated. Though very unlikely, it is possible this cream will be absorbed into your bloodstream. During pregnancy, this cream should be used only when clearly needed and when prescribed by dermatologist directly. Discuss the risks and benefits with your dermatologist. It is not known whether this component passes into breast milk when applied to the skin. Consult your dermatologist prior using fluocinolone acetonide topically.
